How to announce a course
Good morning:
We are (teachers names), your tutors for the course Academic Spanish: spelling and punctuation, organized by the (your centre or department name) of the University of (your university name).
From April 1 to 8 you will be in contact with (name of the professor) with a common theme: written expression, specifically spelling in the academic field. We will update the uses of capital letters, we will make it clear when a word has a dipthong or hiatus in order to correctly apply the general rules of accentuation, we will review the writing of acronyms, abbreviations and symbols and we will pay attention to the words and expressions that They have special spelling difficulties.
In the second part of the course, between May 1 and 8, (name of the professor) will work with you on punctuation marks and try to answer the question that I'm sure all of you have asked yourself at some point: what do I need to know to score well? As you may have observed during your academic writing experiences, good punctuation is a necessity because punctuation marks allow the writer to direct the interpretative task of the reader.
We trust that the indications and suggestions provided in this course will contribute to improving the quality of your academic production.
To achieve this great objective, we need your cooperation: we encourage you to participate in the forums in an orderly fashion, where we will resolve any doubts that may arise as a result of reading and discussing the course contents.
The synchronous sessions are scheduled for April 1 (first part) and May 1 (second part) from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. In the asynchronous sessions, the teachers will be available on the virtual campus to answer your immediate questions and, if you consider it necessary or interesting, we can meet virtually on the days indicated at a time that suits us all. We will outline this detail as the course progresses.
We are at your disposal for any questions that may arise and we trust that we have made the right choice of content. We hope that the course will be of your interest.
Kind regards,
(Name of coordinator/professor responsible)
