envie vs envoyer

Great question! In French, "envie" does not mean "to send" — it has a completely different meaning.

✅ What does "envie" mean?

👉 "envie" = desire, wish, or want (noun)

🔹 Examples:

  • J’ai envie de manger.
     = I feel like eating.
(literally: I have desire to eat)

  • Elle a envie de voyager.
     = She wants to travel.

  • Ils n’ont pas envie de sortir.
= They don’t feel like going out.

❌ Not to confuse with:

  • "envoyer" = to send
(Ex: Je veux envoyer un message. → I want to send a message)

So:

  • "envie" = want/desire ✅

  • "envoyer" = to send ❌
